The 52-year-old protagonist returns to a place she visited every year as a child with her mother: Aomori There, Itako—spiritual mediums believed to communicate with the dead and convey their messages—still live and practise Seeking to enter into dialogue with her deceased mother and grandmother, she visits a n Itako.

As she listens to the words the Itako conveys, memories of her childhood begin to emerge: the tensions with her mother, the events that followed her grandmother’s death—and a world that, as a child, seemed both fascinating and eerie On her journey through the spiritual sites of Aomori—places still believed to be inhabited by the dead—she herself embodies the memories of her mother, her grandmother, and her younger self by performing each of these roles.

In this interplay of fiction and documentary, she gradually discovers a path toward reconciliation with her mother—and a new relationship to life and death.

The film is the artist’s first experimental short, created after the death of her own mother It blends autobiographical elements with a poetic and documentary approach to memory.

「私」は子どもの頃に毎年母と一緒に訪れた場所、青森を再び訪れる。そこには今も死者を呼び寄せ、その言葉を
伝えることのできるイタコが暮らしている。「私」は亡き母と祖母と対話するためにイタコのもとを訪れる。
イタコが語る死者の言葉を聞きながら、「私」は自らの幼少期、母との葛藤、祖母の死後の出来事を回想していく。
子供の頃に感じた魅力的でありながら不思議で不気味でもあった世界。青森に今も点在するたくさんの死者がい
ると信じられる民族信仰の土地を訪れ、記憶の深くにある記憶の中から「私」は母との折り合いや祖母の死とど
う向き合っていくのかを見つけていく。自身の記憶をもとに記憶の連鎖を示唆するイメージとドキュメンタリー
と交差させた初の実験的な短編映画。
